Omar currently serves as senior legal adviser at ZADCO (major subsidiary of ADNOC Group of companies) based in Abu Dhabi in the UAE. He is responsible for assisting on all legal and regulatory aspects relating to all of ZADCO's projects including one of its most substantial project to date.

The project known as 'Upper 750' involves will involve numerous multinational companies and its purpose is to significantly boost production capacity at the fourth largest offshore oil field in the world operated by ZADCO. Projected capital expenditure of the Project runs into the billions of dollars.

His particular area of expertise are Iraqi laws relating to energy, construction and foreign direct investment having advised major IOCs on some of the first technical service contracts issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and global multinational companies on some of the largest investment transactions in the Iraqi minerals sector to date.

Some of the notable projects Omar has been involved in include a nuclear plant project in the Middle East and advising Governments on reforms to the Federal laws of certain Arab countries with regards to procurement in the construction/infrastructure sector.

Omar currently serves on the Middle East Committee of the well regarded Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and is also the Middle East correspondent for the leading professional legal academic journal 'The International Construction Law Review'. He is listed in the 2008 International Who's Who of Professionals as an international projects lawyer with specialist experience in Iraqi laws.
