A former executive of BP PLC, Mr Atiyyah spent 26 years with BP in a variety of finance and commercial roles mainly in the Upstream in locations including Anchorage, Baku, Dubai, Houston & Riyadh as well as the London headquarters.
He served as Vice President Finance, EMEA. Transactions included the $5bn pre-export financing of BP’s crude and products purchase from Rosneft, $1bn BP Shipping’s financing program, multi-billion dollar gas pipeline project financing as well as a project streamlining BP’s global Treasury footprint. Mr Atiyyah was the Treasury executive on BP’s Trading Investment Committee.
Prior to that, he was Vice President of Strategic Planning for BP’s Upstream segment where he had accountability for Upstream BP’s global planning process and work products used in Group Board and Investor presentations. Other roles included Head of Finance for BP’s midstream business in Azerbaijan including the $5bn Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan pipeline and Commercial Manager for the 13bn barrel Greater Prudhoe Bay field in Alaska.
More recently, Mr Atiyyah has been consulting on oil sector governance, project feasibility, investment management and finance organization structuring.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronic Systems Engineering from Kingston University (UK) and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
